Multispecies Ecologies

Drawing manifestations of the living world closer to our human senses, the ‘green’ route asks how we relate to the plants, animals, landscapes, and other entities with whom we share the planet. Acting in concert with planetary and non-human beings, this route traverses FoAM's speculative and experimental ecologies. Immersive experiences and guided exercises in field observation, gardening, and foraging suggest different ways of sustaining an open-ended engagement with the non-human world. Moving beyond conservation or sustainability, areas along this route create space for ‘unholy alliances’ between people with often divergent values, environmental priorities, and lines of action. The route visits a series of peculiar outlooks, which offer views of multiple possible ‘green’ futures – luminous visions of machine wilderness, environmental solidarity, and fertile sym-bio-sys.
